The Elementary school has a new teacher this year! Miss Alison Ruhl teaches the field of nutrition education to the elementary students and utilizes the greenhouse, garden, and high school agriscience program to do it. Teachers are also increasing the nutrition education that is happening in the classrooms. Every student gets the chance to experience 40 minutes of nutrition education every week. Kids are doing activities in and outside of the classroom. They are doing food tasting, growing in the green house, and this summer there is a day camp.
The Agriscience Program is hosting a day camp, one day a week, all day. They get to garden in a way to teach nutrition, and to participate in a physical activities. Some activities they will experience at the day camp are:
- working with the high school students in the gardens
- food/nutrition activity
- work with the high schoolers in the pasture
- food journals
High School Agriscience Nutrition Mentors and Botany Class:
